MK4 Cab Driving Lamps

Post by andycab on Mon Feb 17, 2014 11:35 am

Hi guys trying to get the driving lamps off my 88 model cabby , but after weeks of soaking with WD40 have only managed to loosen the fixings so the lamps now pivot . further progress seems unlikely at the moment without risk of damage to brackets etc , really trying to avoid this , any help or advice would be greatly appreciated , dont think these lamps have been off in 25 years.

thanks in advance
Andy

As far as I'm aware the lamps don't have a metal insert in the body's so it's unlikely that they are seized. I'd be tempted to give them a light tap on the end of the bolts assuming that you have managed to get the nuts off. Failing that can you not get two nuts on the bolts and lock them together the work on the outer nut using a spanner working the bolt inwards and the inner nut working outwards, hope that makes sense.
