battery conditiner

Post by crash on Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:26 pm

i've just bought a new battery conditioner and jan was asking about it so here goes.
basicly it's an inteligent low amperage trickle charger that when connected to a partly charged battery will charge the battery to full capacity then switch to maintain mode untill the battery charge level drops to a pre set value then switch back to charge mode again and so on and so on. ensuring that when you come to your cabby it will start (well at least turn over lol)
the cost of the device was a mere 16 quid
years ago i bought a solar panel that just charges during the hours of daylight but that failed to keep the cab charged during the winter so was disgarded http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solar-Powered-12V-1-5W-Battery-Trickle-Charger-Panel-Power-Generator-Boxed-/251233797788?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item3a7eb3869c
last year i bought a very cheap trickle charger that charges whenever it connected to the battery this worked fine but didn't even last the sorn period out prob cos i left it on almost all the time but i'm not sure if it would have done the job if put on a timer. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-TRICKLE-CHARGER-CAR-CARAVAN-MOTORCYCLE-BATTERY-NEW-/190547959854?pt=UK_Recovery_Tools&hash=item2c5d8b202e
hoping this one will do the job for quite a while time will tell

sounds good but im to impatient ,make my mind up to go out in the cabby and its flat ,like today ,but worth thinking about if i had a suitable place to leave it connected rather than on a 30 meter extension lead out the front of the house lol yes everyone would be plugging into my electric hehe
